Camp Counsellor Training Program

Designed for 14- and 15-year-olds, the Camp Counsellor Training Program leads to a camp counsellor skills diploma (DAFA, or “diplôme d’aptitudes aux fonctions d’animateur).

The Camp Counsellor Training Program in a nutshell:

  • Seven weeks with counsellors and children attending Pincourt Day cCamp
  • A wide range of activities
  • Training sessions and outings
  • Invaluable experience in developing your sense of initiative, resourcefulness, responsibility and creativity
  • What is DAFA?

DAFA is a certification program that teaches you all the skills you need to become a good counsellor or recreational activity leader. It’s also a big plus for your resume.

You will learn how to look after children safely, to communicate effectively with them, to motivate group members, to work as part of a team and to plan, carry out and assess activities.

To learn more, check the DAFA program website.

  • Eligible participants
Pincourt residents 14 and 15 years of age.
  • Requirements

To receive your diploma, you will have to attend all theoretical and practical training sessions required under the program. Taking part in the program does not necessarily guarantee you a job as a counsellor.

Once you have successfully completed your DAFA program, you will receive your certification card on your 16th birthday.
