Designed for 14 and 15-year-olds, the Camp Counsellor Training Program offers courses to obtain a camp counsellor skills diploma (DAFA, or “diplôme d’aptitudes aux fonctions d’animateur“).
The Camp Counsellor Training Program in a nutshell:
- Two weeks with counsellors and children attending Pincourt Day cCamp
- A wide range of activities
- Invaluable experience in developing your sense of initiative, resourcefulness, responsibility and creativity
To receive your diploma, you will have to attend all theoretical and practical training sessions required under the program. Taking part in the program does not necessarily guarantee you a job as a counsellor.
Once you have successfully completed your DAFA program, you will receive your certification card on your 16th birthday.
DAFA is a certification program that teaches you all the skills you need to become a good counsellor or recreational activity leader. It’s also a big plus for your resume.
You will learn how to look after children safely, to communicate effectively with them, to motivate group members, to work as part of a team and to plan, carry out and assess activities.
To learn more, check the DAFA program website.
Pincourt residents 14 and 15 years of age.
