  • Tricycle

Tricycle is an online tool to better recycle, which is part of the CYCLE of reduction, reuse, recycling, and recovery of residual materials.

Where can I bring my used batteries? Where can I bring my empty paint containers? What can I do with my old appliances? Where can I bring my old clothes, toys, and books? Where can I bring my asphalt shingles waste? Tricycle can help you answer all these questions.

The recycling collection is every Monday.

All recyclable goods must be put in the blue bin supplied by the MRC de Vaudreuil-Soulanges. We recommend that you put your recycling bin out at curbside as of 6 p.m. on the day before pickup to be sure you don’t miss the truck the next day.

  • Garbage
Garbage collection is on every other Friday.

As a result of the obligation imposed by the government, and due to the recent adoption of a Sustainable Development Policy, the Town of Pincourt has decided to follow neighboring towns by reducing its waste collections.

The amount of waste placed in the garbage bin has decreased since the arrival of food waste collection. This new change is a great way to collectively reduce our ecological footprint.

All garbage must be put in the black bin supplied by the Town. We recommend that you put your garbage out at curbside as of 6 p.m. on the day before pickup to be sure you don’t miss the truck the next day.

    Refused materials

The following materials may not be placed in your garbage bin:

    • Agricultural and industrial production waste
    • Manure, mud, liquid waste and fertilizers
    • Hazardous goods
    • Explosive items
    • Tires and car parts
    • Soil and sand soaked with oil or gas
    • Biomedical waste
    • Hazardous household waste
    • Electronic appliances (ICT items)
    • Ashes

    Did you know?

Garbage trucks are equipped with a GPS positioning system that records their movements. The GPS records the trucks’ positions at each stop and minute by minute. These data are then collected by the Public Works Department.

Think the last garbage truck may have forgotten you? The GPS data can tell us exactly when the truck serviced your street.

  • Recycling Food Waste (compost)
Food waste is collected every Wednesday.

    Collection

Transfer the content of your kitchen bin in your brown bin. On collection day, place your bin out at the curb, wheels facing your property. This will prevent the materials from dropping onto the lid when emptied.

Do you already have a domestic composter?

Do not change your habits! See the brown bin as the perfect complement to your domestic composter.

The collection of food waste is an opportunity for you to optimize the recovery of other materials such as table residues, which do not go into your home composter, i.e. meat, fish, leftovers, pasta and salads containing sauce and /or vinaigrette.

Use your brown bin as an alternative when your home composter is full, frozen, or you need snowshoes to reach it!

Bulk deposit (pell-mell in the bin):

    • You may cover the residues of dry matter or newspaper between the deposits.
    • You also can double or triple the thickness to prevent liquid leakage.

    Authorized and refused

Whether 100% compostable, oxo-biodegradable or biodegradable, plastic bags are not accepted in food waste collection. Which material in your brown bin is accepted or rejected depends on the site and the processing technology used.

Use cellulose-lined paper bags (available in grocery stores and hardware stores).

    Alternatives to bags:

    • Newsprint
    • Flyers
    • Paper grocery bags
    • Soiled unwaxed cardboard

    Maintenance of your bins

    Kitchen bin and brown bin

Clean your bin regularly with water with added vinegar or biodegradable soap. Avoid using bleach.

    Tricks to avoid bad smells:

    • Line the bottom of your bin with newsprint or cardboard to absorb liquids and prevent materials from sticking to the bottom.
    • Use a corner of your freezer to store animal or odorous materials until the day of collection.
    • Avoid dumping in large amounts of liquids or oils.
    • Sprinkle a deodorant product such as baking soda.
    • Store your bin in the shade.

    Repell animals:

    • Apply cough ointment or essential mint oil to the rim of the lid of your bin.
    • Close the container tightly with the provided clasp.

    Your brown bin during winter:

    • Prevent materials from sticking to the walls by lining the bottom of the bin with layers of newspaper or cardboard.
    • During a snowstorm, if possible, wait until the next collection to put your bin out on the street so as not to hinder municipal snow removal. Your bin is large enough to hold the equivalent of several weeks of food residue and in winter there is no smell.

Citizens can dump their leaves in the designated container at any time!

    ·         Eco-responsible option: leaf recycling!

    - Mow the leaves that have fallen on your lawn

    - The leaves will act as natural compost

  • Christmas Trees
Christmas trees will be picked up during the week of January 9, 2023.

Want to get rid of your natural Christmas tree? Nothing could be simpler: just put it by the side of the street. Public Works will pick up real trees through the end of January.

Make sure you remove all decorations before putting your tree by the curb. Place it with the trunk closest to the street.

  • Holidays
Garbage, recycling and large item collection is postponed to a later date if the regular date falls on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day.

If the garbage, recycling or large item pickup date falls on any other holiday, the collection proceeds as usual.

During the holidays, our contractors may experience scheduling constraints that can affect collection operations and times. For that reason, we recommend you always place your bins and materials for pickup at the curb on the day before collection. Thank you for your understanding.

    Special collection 2023:

    ** Recycling Collection :  December 27, 2023 **

  • Bin placement
Your bins will be emptied if certain requirements are met.

Under our contract, our service provider is not required to lift wheeled bins robotically in the following cases:

    • If there are any bags on or next to the bin
    • If a bin is stuck in the ice
    • If a bin is in the street
    • If the bin’s wheels are on the street side
    • If the bin’s lid is open

For safety reasons, garbage truck drivers must remain in their vehicle if they see an incorrectly positioned bin.

In winter, the bin must not get in the way of the snow plow. Avoid leaving your bin too close to the street.

Your bin wasn’t emptied? Call the Public Works Department to find out whether your address is listed in the contractor’s non-compliance report. If it is, you’ll find out the exact reason why your bin wasn’t emptied.
